Sarcoidosis
Sarcoidosis is a chronic inflammatory disease that affects multiple organs of the body, but most commonly the lungs and lymph nodes. Its cause is unknown, but it is believed to be related to an abnormal immune response. Risk factors for developing sarcoidosis include being of African or Scandinavian descent, having a family history of the disease, and exposure to certain environmental factors such as dust, chemicals, or bacteria. Symptoms can vary widely but may include cough, shortness of breath, fatigue, and skin rashes. Treatment options depend on the severity and location of the disease and may include medication, surgery, or observation.
